My Morning Routine

Can we all agree that having a routine is important when it comes to skincare?

Your skin is the largest organ of your body and is often the most neglected.

When it comes to facial routines often people don’t think about how important it is to not only wash your face but to have products specifically and exclusively for your face. It is equally important to point out that your day and night products can and should be different.
Growing up, Noxema was the only product I used to wash my face, day and night. The only moisturizer I used was Oil of Olay. I carried on with this practice until I started exploring with homemade face masks. It was then that I realized I have been neglecting my skin to an extent.

Washing your face day and night and with products specifically made for your skin type is the main foundation of great skin.

You can always build upon a good foundation. My routine changes depending on the season and what my skin is telling me it needs.

(PAY ATTENTION TO THE MESSAGES YOUR SKIN IS TELLING YOU)

When I wake up before I wash my face, I touch my skin.

I ask myself, how does it feel? Is it dry? Is it oily?

My skin gets especially dry on the days when I don’t drink enough water or if I have spent a lot of time in the sun without sunscreen.

Don’t judge me… I do wear sunscreen but I can be inconsistent, at times.

My morning routine in order:

  • Start with warm (not hot) water.
  • I pat dry with a cotton hand towel.
  • Then I spritz rose spray to moisten my skin.
  • For my under-eye cream, I use Clarins Total Eye Lift. I gently pat the cream under my eyes. Treat the skin under your eyes gently, do not rub. I also pat a little cream on my eyelids.
  • Next up, vitamin C serum. My favorite one is by Olehenriksen.
  • Lastly, apply a light cream. My preferred face cream for warmer weather is Summer Friday.

Your skin will thank you when you practice a regular skincare routine.

There is no better feeling than starting the day with a fresh face. By no means is this a prescription for you. I am not a professional esthetician.

These are my personal recommendations. Nor is this post sponsored.

THE F WORD

I think we all can agree that 2020 was one hell of a year.

There are a lot of F words that I can think of to describe 2020…

Between the global pandemic (lockdown, lack of PPE, distance learning, toilet paper gate, massive death toll, excessive handwashing, the list goes on…) to the senseless killings of Breonna Taylor, George Floyd, Rayshard Brooks, Daniel Prude, Atatiana Jefferson, Stephon Clark to name a few.
