“Your skin is amazing.”
This is usually the first thing people say to me, then followed by, “What products do you use?”
Before I share my skincare routine, products, and secrets. I want to start with the foundation of my routine. In all honesty, it starts with what I put in my body.
My biggest skincare tip is water, water, water.
Your skin is the largest organ of your body. Hydration is very important in making sure your skin processes and removes toxins. I drink a lot of water. It’s my primary drink.

I can pinpoint the day I fell in love with drinking water. I was running around in the backyard with my cousins, Tere and Gigi. After a few hours, we were hot and sweaty. We ran up the backstairs into the kitchen and asked our grandmother, Nennen for something to drink. She poured three cups of water. My throat was as dry as a desert. I grabbed my cup and drank all of the water in one gulp and then asked for two more glasses of water. That water tasted so good. I drank so much water that I could feel it moving in my belly when I moved.

I have the fondest memories of water. Between tap water and coconut water (we had coconut trees in our yard), I was in love with water. Growing up, we were only allowed to drink soda with dinner a couple of nights a week. In New York, we didn’t have soda in the house at all. Water had no competition.
My second approach also is what I put into my body: Food!
Don’t get me wrong, I love sweets and indulge a lot.
But for my skin, I try to eat healthy the majority of the time. I have vegetables with every meal. I have been working on incorporating more plant-based meals into my diet. Now, I by no means plan to become vegan. I cannot give up eggs, bacon, and seafood. I want to do my part to make my carbon footprint smaller. But come on, bacon is so good.

Just like water, what you put into your body has a massive influence on your skin and beauty. Be mindful of this but never stop yourself from eating all of the best foods, just think of moderation.
My next post will be an introduction to the products I use, and the routine I follow aside from what I put inside my body.
What’s your no.1 tip for skincare?
