How to: Repurpose Your Closet!

Spring is in the air!

Can you smell it? *Achoo*, yes and so are allergens.

There is so much about Spring to look forward to… longer daylight hours, flowers blooming, spring wardrobe, and warmer days. The latter is touch and go.

I know, I am excited to get rid of my heavy sweaters, and winter coats. Though, I can definitely recall a few times when we had snow in April. Spring is synonymous with cleaning and clearing out. We usually think of cleaning our homes from top to bottom, especially the windows.

It’s also time to turn over our closets. Don’t get rid of every heavy coat or sweater.

Winter likes to show up in April like an uninvited, empty-handed house guest asking, “What’s for dinner?” So be sure to keep a few winter items on hand.

What I love most about Spring are the colorful flowy dresses, floral prints, and the new “it” color of the season.

It’s not quite time to display our toes, it’s a good idea to keep a few winter boots on hand and maybe a few pairs of colorful tights.

After spending two Winters in quarantine (wow), there is nothing I would love more than to toss all of my winter clothes in storage. Our seasons have been changing with global warming and it’s possible to have all four seasons in one week.

For this, trust me…pick out a few pieces to incorporate into your Spring wardrobe.

Here are a few of my favorite looks:

  • I love pairing a button-down sweater with a spring dress and tall boots. This look is perfect for the days when the temperature reaches 65 degrees during the day and around 60 degrees at night.
  • Spring dress, colorful winter tights, camel coat, and ankle booties.
  • Cutout jeans, floral shirt, colorful sweater, and sneakers
  • Pleather skirt, button-down shirt, sweater vest, and a denim jacket.

These are only a few ideas. Let me know which ones you will try or if you have a tip I didn’t mention.

 Happy Spring!

THE F WORD

I think we all can agree that 2020 was one hell of a year.

There are a lot of F words that I can think of to describe 2020…

Between the global pandemic (lockdown, lack of PPE, distance learning, toilet paper gate, massive death toll, excessive handwashing, the list goes on…) to the senseless killings of Breonna Taylor, George Floyd, Rayshard Brooks, Daniel Prude, Atatiana Jefferson, Stephon Clark to name a few.
